Author Spotlight – Vallean Jackson
Learning Colors & Finding Adventure
We got the chance to sit down with author, Vallean Jackson. Vallean was born & raised in Birmingham, AL. She is a graduate of Jacksonville State University with a BA in communications & a minor in biology. She is also a journalist who has written for various publications & loves being a journalist just as she loves writing books. Her genres of books ranging from anthologies, romance, urban fiction, some horror, and recently children’s books.
Jackson is also a mother and was inspired by her daughter to bring her long-time dream of a children’s book to life.
In her first children’s book, Colors At First Sight, the main character Liyah is very curious, eager to learn, and loves taking adventures. This adventure explores colors we see everyday and noticing how colors are tied to so much. This helps her learn her colors as well explore things around, and realize what she enjoys and dislikes. Along the way some things are sour, and quickly causes her to make a bad face, but it is not just one thing she encounters she discovers she doesn’t like.
